Hello!

I need to cut out an image of a sapphire from its photo, so that I could use only the sapphire (without the background, which I need to "not exist" or to be transparent) in button making and to insert in site pages that I am making with Seamonkey.

I have Photoshop, but I don't know how to do what I described. And I don't know how to save an image in Photoshop so it will be readable by other programs and seeable by Explorer.

Please, please, please help me!!!

Hi Carly.

You can either choose select all on the layer containing the extracted image, copy it and paste it on top of the new background image. You could copy the new background to a layer beneath the extracted image. OR you could click on the extracted image layer in the layer palette and drag it over on top of the new background.

Hey Thomas... I'm not sure why you're still picking up the background. If you follow the steps above it should delete it completely. Then you can drag the cut out image onto a new object and it should come without the background.

Thanks so much for this detailed extracting tutorial. I like it very much. Does the job. However, when I try to place image on anther object, I am still getting the rectangular black along with the new image - even though the background is gone. How do I transfer just the image without the blank area, please.
